What is the Street Law DC Human Rights Act Mock Trial?
In partnership with the DC Public Schools, the Georgetown Street Law practicum course trains Georgetown law students to teach fundamental legal principles, trial advocacy skills, and law in local high schools. The high school students present their skills and knowledge in two separate mock trials held over the school year, where they play lawyers and witnesses. The mock trial competitions are more than law-related training; it makes the justice system tangible and accessible and has changed the students’ perceptions of fairness and justice.

The DC Human Rights Act Capstone Mock Trial is, for many students, their first significant advocacy experience. The students litigate a case based on the DC Human Rights Act. This year’s case, Adrian Williams v. Parker James, raises issues of discrimination based on age, religion, and personal appearance.
